Call for Participation - 18th Brainstorming Week on Membrane Computing



Goal: Keeping the tradition of previous editions, the main goal is to provide an opportunity for interacting, and to use the friendly atmosphere of this dynamic meeting as an incubator for new joint works. Researchers working on Membrane Computing have always been an interdisciplinary community, and thus the meeting is open to researchers from other fields including (but not restricted to) Mathematics, Computer Science, Biology, Physics and Medicine. The Brainstorming Week is an excellent forum to discuss about potential collaborations and interdisciplinary approaches.

To this aim, the participants are invited to give short and provocative talks, challenging the audience with open problems, and possibly presenting some of their ongoing work. The program also includes joint work sessions (usually scheduled on
the afternoons), so that the ideas raised in the presentations can be discussed in detail in small groups.

Researchers from MC community, and from other areas as well, are strongly encouraged to circulate open problems and research ideas before the event, even if they cannot attend the meeting (please send to {mdelamor,cgdiaz} 'at'us.es your proposals, and we will post them on the BWMC web page).

Invited talks and short and provocative presentations will be scheduled in the first days, then the time will be mainly devoted to joint work. Those interested in having such presentations should inform the organizers ({cgdiaz, mdelamor} 'at' us.es) some days before the meeting.

Proceedings: As usual, about two months after the meeting a proceedings volume will be published as a research report of the RGNC. Note that there is no submission process prior to the meeting. A selection of final papers will be invited to a special issue of the journal Journal of Membrane Computing. Registration: In order to register the participants should email Carmen Graciani (cgdiaz 'at' us.es). A registration fee of 100 euros will be requested on arrival at the registration desk. This will cover workshop materials, coffee breaks, lunch, social dinner and proceedings. Several accommodation options are listed on the webpage of the BWMC'20 (keep tuned at http://www.gcn.us.es/18bwmc_acommodation).

Important advices:

  1. PhD students can apply for a waiver or a reduction of the registration fee. Requests will be received by
    email, and will be granted depending on the number of students registered and the available budget.
  2. Bookings should be arranged the sooner the better, in order to avoid availability restrictions. In particular, reservations for University residences should be made not later than January 19, 2020 (by email to cgdiaz 'at' us.es).
